Aaron Evans Architects was appointed to secure planning consent for the residential redevelopment of this redundant, dilapidated former stone quarry. Situated within the Green Belt and Cotswold AONB the site is also part of a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) owing to the significant, local population of Greater and Lesser Horseshoe Bats.
From the outset, our design approach was informed by these ecological and environmental considerations whilst pre-empting the Council’s new net zero energy policies that were adopted in January this year. Following extensive consultation with the Councils officers, Natural England and residents, planning permission was granted in June 2023 for a contemporary, net zero development of 4 bespoke, detached dwellings which has been extremely well received by the market.
