Weston Lock, Bath

Bath was perceived as having a need for out of town shopping, however, the Council was in favour of generating employment. It took 3 years and extensive negotiations before a compromise was reached with a new bespoke 25,000 sq ft factory provided to relocate an existing city business alongside 25,000 sq ft of new non-food retail warehouse units. The practice negotiated the complex requirements for this design with the local authority, creating a unified development that integrates three buildings into one coherent form. The scheme provides a number of environmental and urban design gains by way of improvements to the riverside and hard landscaping to Fieldings Road.
