Grand Event marks official opening of The Natural Theatre's New Youth Studio
The Widcombe Institute, formerly the Sunday school and reading room of a nearby church, was cleverly converted in 1996 by Aaron Evans Architects, to provide new headquarters accommodation for the Company. A Mezzanine floor and studio, have now been built into the development almost doubling the space available within the building.
"I am really pleased to see this capital project has come to fruition, especially given the current financial climate. Companies, grant giving bodies and individuals have been incredibly generous" says Artistic Director Ralph Oswick.
The creation of a new youth street theatre studio will centralise young people's creative projects and at the same time provide a very useful community facility. The new studio is an impressive new space that will accommodate many uses in the future.
"The finished result is a delight to look at and to work in and we are extremely grateful to the practice for their expertise in translating our dreams into reality, and for their smooth management of the whole project" says Artistic Director Ralph Oswick.
